treasure, tons of tobacco, and mahogany planks for the windows and doors
of
King Ferdinand VI's opulent
palace being built in Madrid. After enduring twelve
days in a hurricane, she drove ashore on September 5th on the
deserted beaches of Assateague Island, Virginia, leaving behind an
enduring legend that survives today in the wild
horses that run free and which are commonly known today as
Chincoteague Ponies. With her in 1750 was the Nuestra Senora de
Guadalupe, a galleon loaded with treasure that was disabled at
Ocracoke Inlet, North Carolina. Her treasure was stolen an buried at
Norman Island.
Treasure Island: The Untold Story is the true life prequel to
Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island.
